Delhi: Mumbai’s Ayra Jadhav performed brilliantly in the Under-19 Women’s ODI match on Sunday and played a record-breaking inning of 346 runs. She became the first Indian player to score a triple century in Under-19 cricket. However, the highest score in Women’s Under-19 ODI is in the name of South Africa’s Lizelle Lee, who scored 427 runs in 2010.
Thanks to Ayra’s excellent innings, Mumbai scored 563 runs for 3 wickets against Meghalaya at Alur Cricket Ground. In response, Meghalaya team was reduced to just 19 runs, and Mumbai won by a huge margin of 544 runs.
Ayra faced 157 balls and hit 42 fours and 16 sixes in his innings. He scored 260 runs only from boundaries, while added 86 runs by running. This innings is the highest score ever in ODI in India’s domestic women’s cricket. Ayra broke the record of Smriti Mandhana, who had scored a double century in Under-19 domestic cricket.
Ayra made 2 century partnerships in his innings. He added 274 runs for the first wicket with captain Hurley Gala, which included Ayra’s 149 runs. Gala scored 116 runs on 79 balls. After this, Ayra made a partnership of 186 runs with Diksha Panwar for the second wicket. In the match, 3 bowlers of Meghalaya gave more than 100 runs in their respective spells.
However, Ayra did not find any buyer in the mini auction of Women’s Premier League 2025. After this, he was selected as the reserve player of Team India for the Under-19 T-20 World Cup. This tournament will start from January 18 in Malaysia, where the Indian team is the defending champion.
14-year-old Ayra is a student of Shardashram Vidyamandir International School, where Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli and Ajit Agarkar have also studied.
