Delhi: Former Indian team cricketer K Srikanth, while talking about Shubman Gill, has raised questions about his place in the team. Gill’s performance in the recent Test series against Australia was not special, where he scored only 93 runs.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, K Srikanth, a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team, said, “I have always been saying that Shubman Gill is an overrated cricketer, but no one listened to me. He is really overrated. If Gill is getting such a long chance, then couldn’t players like Suryakumar Yadav also get a long chance in Test cricket? Suryakumar did not make a good start in Test cricket, but he has technique and ability. “Yet the selectors and team management made him a white-ball specialist.”

He further said, “This makes it clear that the selectors should pay attention to new talent. For example, Ruturaj Gaikwad has performed brilliantly in first-class cricket, but the selectors did not give him a chance.”

For your information, let us tell you that till now Shubman Gill has played 32 test matches and scored 1893 runs, which includes 5 centuries and 7 half-centuries. His last Test century came in the Chennai Test match against Bangladesh in September, when he played an unbeaten inning of 119* runs.
