Delhi: 22 -year -old left -handed batsman B Sai Sudarshan is in excellent form these days. The young player, who belongs to Tamil Nadu, has played three matches for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 so far for the Gujarat Titans (GT) and scored a total of 187 runs with the help of two half -centuries. On 25 March, he played a brilliant innings of 74 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Narendra Modi Stadium. However, the team could not win. After this, he scored 63 and 49 runs against Mumbai Indians (Mi) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) respectively and won his team by 36 runs and 8 wickets.
Sai Sudarshan also scored more than 500 runs for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024, due to which the franchise retained him before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite the presence of an experienced batsman like Jose Butler in the team, the team management expressed confidence in Sai and entrusted him with the task of starting the innings.
In a conversation with the Times of India, Sai Sudarshan said, “When I came to know that I would open, I was very happy. It gave me more confidence that the team management gave me such a big responsibility, especially when we have an explosive opener like Jose Butler. I got the freedom to play, because I knew that I had a long line of experienced batsmen after me.
Sai Sudarshan, who is playing IPL for four seasons, now wants to improve his game in every aspect, so that we can fulfill the dream of playing Test cricket for India. He further said, “There is no shortage of top level batsmen in India, especially openers. I am trying to improve my game in every possible aspect, whenever I get a chance, I want to give my best to the country by keeping myself ready.”
Sai further said, “It is my dream to play Test cricket. I think you can achieve it only by dreaming. At the moment, my focus is on IPL, but why not? I want to prepare myself to play in circumstances like England and do well for the country.”
Sai Sudarshan has so far played three ODIs and a T20 international match for India. Given his current form and thinking in IPL 2025, it would not be wrong to say that he can become a big name for Indian cricket in future.
