Delhi: Cricket Australia has planned to pay tribute to the late Phillip Hughes on the occasion of his 10th death anniversary. Hughes will be remembered ahead of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will be held at the Adelaide Oval from 6 to 10 December.
India’s Sir Don Bradman did not find any buyer, remained empty handed
Hughes, who played 26 Tests for Australia, was injured by a bouncer from star fast bowler Sean Abbott at the Sydney Cricket Ground during a home match in 2014. Due to this injury he died on 27 November 2014. This left-handed batsman was considered one of the most talented cricketers of Australia.
Cricket Australia has also decided to pay tribute to him during the three upcoming Sheffield Shield matches. In these matches, players will wear black armbands and flags will be flown at half mast in the stadiums. Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said, “We want Hughes’ family to feel comfortable with this honor and to be able to celebrate his life and achievements in the right way.” A minute’s silence will also be observed in Hughes’ memory on the fourth day of the Adelaide Test.
It is noteworthy that after the death of Hughes in 2014, he was included as the 13th player in the Adelaide Test played between India and Australia. Before the match, applause was played in his honor for 63 seconds. Hughes was unbeaten on 63* in his last match when he was hit on the neck by a bouncer.
Day-night test will be held in Adelaide
The second test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played with pink ball as day-night. This match will start at 9:30 am Indian time.
