Before the mega auction of IPL 2025, there was a possibility that Ashutosh Sharma would be retained by Punjab Kings, but it did not happen. Ashutosh, who came into limelight due to his aggressive batting in the last season of IPL, played some match-winning innings for Punjab.

In such a situation, it seemed that there would be a big bid on the player in this auction, but Delhi Capitals added him for Rs 3.80 crore. So the player being sold to DC was quite unexpected. But DC has made the middle order more explosive by adding Ashutosh to its team.
