Delhi: In the 65th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a 42 -run defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The RCB, which was moving towards victory for a time, suddenly slipped from the match, when the team lost the last seven wickets for just 16 runs. After this defeat, captain Jitesh Sharma spoke openly on the team’s performance.
Jitesh is not disappointed with RCB’s defeat
Jitesh said after the match that this defeat was necessary for the team because it would get a chance to learn. He said, “I think 20-30 runs were over. How we lost this match, I do not even have the answer. We were a bit loose and did not see that intensity in the team. But, it is a good thing that we lost this match. This will give us a chance to know what we have to improve.”
Talking on his own innings, Jitesh said, “I was out, so at that time I was not in the zone that I would meet Tim David who was injured. But overall this necklace will be beneficial for us because our batting is still strong. We will make a better comeback next time.”
RCB lost the last 7 wickets for just 16 runs
RCB started fast during the batting. Virat Kohli and Phil Soult scored brilliant runs in the powerplay. Jitesh Sharma also played a fast innings of 24 runs in the middle order. The team was in good position till the 14th over and was chasing the target. But then Nitish Reddy’s brilliant over and then two tremors of Ishaan Malinga overturned the match. Malinga, who had given 17 runs in his first over, made a tremendous comeback and not only showed control of Yorker, but also shocked the batsmen with reverse swing.
He ran out of Rajat Patidar, then dismissed Romariyo Shepherd on Golden Duck on the next ball. Soon Jitesh Sharma also returned to the pavilion and RCB’s innings collapsed. The team lost the last 7 wickets for just 16 runs.
