Delhi: Punjab Kings performed brilliantly in their first match of IPL 2025, defeating Gujarat Titans by 11 runs and started with a win. Punjab, batting first, scored a huge score of 243 runs. The Gujarat team chased this target and gave a tough competition but finally faced defeat.
Shreyas Iyer’s brilliant innings
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer played an excellent innings of 97 runs and brought the team to a strong position. However, he missed his century. In the last over of the match, Shreyas was standing at non-strike end, and Shashank Singh did not give him a strike, making Iyer unbeaten on 97 runs.
