Shardul Thakur made a unique IPL record: never seen before in history.

IPL 2025: Lucknow Super Giants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 runs in their last match. KKR’s team chased 239 runs at their home Eden Gardens, scoring only 234 runs in 20 overs. Shardul Thakur also played a big role in Lucknow’s victory, who made batsmen like Ajinkya Rahane and Andre Russell their victims.

Shardul Thakur took two wickets for 52 runs in a four -over spell. He took a shameful record during his spell. Shardul has become the first bowler to throw five consecutive wide balls in an over of IPL history.

Shardul Thakur bowled in the 13th over of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ innings and achieved an unwanted feat in his IPL career. He bowled five consecutive wide balls, seeing which Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant was very angry. However, Shardul again showed Ajinkya Rahane the path of the pavilion, making a comeback on the last ball of the over. Kolkata captain was dismissed for 61 runs in 35 balls. 13 runs and one wicket came in the 13th over by Shardul.

Let me tell you, before Shardul in the IPL, no bowler had bowled five wide balls in one over. Earlier, four bowlers have thrown four consecutive wide, including Jasprit Bumrah (2015), Praveen Kumar (2017), Mohammad Siraj (2023) and Khalil Ahmed (2024). Also, Thakur also equaled the record of the longest over (11 balls) in the IPL. Earlier, Mohammad Siraj and Tushar Deshpande have also put 11–11 balls over.
