Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman Ryan Parag had to stay on the field for a unique reason as soon as the Indian Premier League (IPL) came on the field against the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match was played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, 16 April. When pollen landed for batting, the umpires examined his bat and found that he is not in the right size according to the new rules.
Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson was out of retired hurt due to injury, after which Ryan Parag came to bat. But, as soon as he stepped on the crease, the umpire used gauge to check the bat. The bat of pollen was not according to the fixed criteria, due to which they had to change the bat.
The young batsmen did not look happy with this checking and were seen talking to the umpire. He told the umpire that his bat has already been checked in the dressing room and he has not changed the bat. However, he still had to take another bat.

During this time the camera went to Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid, whose face was very flat. Dravid, who usually remained calm, also appeared with this incident, but he did not show any sentiment.
This matter was also discussed in the commentary box. Former England spinner Gram Swan jokingly said, “Ryan Parag passed the batterometer. Some problems came but finally the bat got fit.”
Another commentator said that pollen may be telling the umpire that, “You had already checked my bat, why are you doing it again?”
Bats have been changed earlier also
It is worth noting that Ryan Parag is not the first player who had to change the bat due to this. Earlier, Sunil Narayan of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Enrique Northern also had to change their bat for this reason.
The BCCI has implemented this new rule from IPL 2025 to maintain a balance between the bat and the ball. Now every batsman will be measured with gauge before landing on the field. Openers’ bat fourth umpire checks, while the rest of the batsmen will check the on-field umpire.
