Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a life ban on Gurmeet Singh Bhamra, owner of a team of Mumbai T20 League on Friday. He is accused of trying to match match fixing and violating BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Code.

BCCI’s Lokpal Justice Arun Mishra, who is a former Supreme Court judge, said that corrupt activities like match fixing should be strictly dealt with. Under this, he imposed the most rigorous punishment, life ban on Gurmeet.

According to the order of the Lokpal received by ANI, the matter is related to the second season of the Mumbai T20 League. The controversial match was the semi -final of the tournament played in May 2019.

It has been said in the order that Bhamra had approached a player and tried to match the match, but the player immediately informed the concerned agencies.

Earlier, BCCI’s anti-corruption unit investigated the case, in which Bhamra was “found guilty”. After this, the matter was sent to the Lokpal.

Justice Arun Mishra, while giving a detailed argument in his order, made it clear that Gurmeet Singh Bhamra has violated the anti-corruption code, and on the basis of this he was banned for life.
