Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected the claim of former coach Jason Gillespie, in which he had asked for not getting dues even after months of resignation. Significantly, in April 2024, PCB appointed Jason Gillespie of Australia to Red-Ball (Test) and South Africa’s Gary Kirsten as the head coach of the White-Ball (limited over) team. Both were placed on a two -year contract.

However, due to poor performance of the team, the board panicked and withdrew several rights from both coaches. The matter gradually deteriorated that within 6 months of the appointment, both the coaches had to resign from the post.

Recently, Gillespie claimed in a conversation through a Pakistani news medium that he had not yet received complete payment.

Gilespi said, “I do not want to go in much details, but I would definitely say that there is still some payment for that work, which I did. It is a bit disappointing, but hopefully the matter will be resolved soon.”

However, PCB issued a statement dismissing the claim of Gillespie and said that he had violated the clear terms of the contract. The board said, “Pakistan Cricket Board rejects the claim of dues made by a former head coach.”

The board spokesperson further said, “The former coach left the post without giving a compulsory notice period of four months, which is clearly a violation of the contract. The condition in the contract was equally applicable to both sides and the coaches were fully aware of this condition.”
