Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane has questioned his team’s batting after defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT). Rahane admitted that the team will now have to improve batting as soon as possible. So far in the tournament, KKR has won only three out of eight matches, in such a situation, every match for them has become almost done or dying.

In this match played at Eden Gardens, KKR had a target of 199 runs. However, the team failed to achieve this. Earlier, the team was not able to win a small target of 112 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

What did the captain Rahane say after the defeat?

Rahane said after the match, “The target of 199 runs could have been a chase on this wicket. Our bowlers made a great comeback. But, when you are chasing a big goal, there is a good start from the opening, which our team has not been able to do in this season.”

Rahane admitted that the pitch was a bit slow, but the target team inside 200 could have achieved. He said, “We know these conditions well. We have to bat well in the middle overs, we are lagging behind. There is no complaint with our bowling, but the batting unit will have to work more hard.”

The KKR captain praised the bowlers and said that he is constantly doing well. The bowlers made a good comeback against Shubman Gill and Jose Butler and stopped GT within 200. Rahane also talked about focusing on fielding. He said, “If we save 10-15 runs in fielding, it is beneficial for the team. Our intention and attitude should remain the same for the entire 20 overs, while we are a little behind.”

Finally Rahane said, “You cannot think of more previous things. It is necessary to learn from your mistakes and you should move forward.”
