Delhi: The team has been accused of match fixing after the shocking defeat of Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match number 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Jaideep Bihani, the convenor of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) Ed-Hawk Committee, has questioned the defeat, accusing the team of disturbances.
The Rajasthan team had a target of 181 runs, and under the leadership of captain Sanju Samson, the team needed only 9 runs to win in the last over, that too remaining 6 wickets remaining. But, surprising everyone, the team lost the match by two runs. LSG bowler Avesh Khan bowled brilliantly in the last over and gave his team victory.
However, this defeat did not digest Jaideep Bihani. He questioned that when the team wanted a few runs on their home ground, how did they lose. In an interview to News18 Rajasthan, Bihani also reminded of the old controversial history of Rajasthan Royals, when in 2013 some players of the team were caught in spot fixing.
Not only this, he also said that the owner of the team Raj Kundra was also caught on betting charges, due to which both Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had to face a two -year ban in 2016 and 2017. For this reason, he has demanded an inquiry into the matter from BCCI and other agencies.
Apart from this, Jaideep Bihani also alleged that the Rajasthan Cricket Association was deliberately sidelined during the IPL hosting. He said, “In Rajasthan, the Ed-Hawk Committee has been formed by the State Government. After reviewing our work, we have been given extension for the fifth time. During our tenure, we have successfully organized all the competitions from district to national level. But, as soon as the time of hosting IPL came, the sports council took command of the event. The BCCI sent a letter to RCA for the first IPL event. Mansingh is not an MoU of the stadium, if you are not paying for every match? “
Earlier, also the Rajasthan team could not score 9 runs in the last over against Delhi Capitals (DC), while they had 7 wickets left, and then lost in the match super over. Now after the fourth consecutive defeat, the team has reached eighth position in the points table. Rajasthan Royals have registered only two wins in eight matches and have four points in their account. The team will now play a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on 24 April.
