Delhi: Young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines, when he made a record of becoming the youngest player by debuting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at just 14 years and 23 days. He was sent by Rajasthan Royals (RR) to bat as an impact player against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Vaibhav started his innings by hitting a six off the first ball of Shardul Thakur and then scored a brilliant innings of 34 runs in 20 balls. His fearless batting received praise not only in India but also across the border.
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali praised this young player. He said on his YouTube channel, “This 14 -year -old child… The way he hit a six on the first ball, it is a big thing. Think if he was out in an attempt to hit a six on the first ball, then what people would have said? If people were in Pakistan? If people were in Pakistan?
This success of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who belongs to Bihar, has been full of struggles. Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 1.1 crore. His father Sanjeev Suryavanshi sold his land to realize his son’s dream. Vaibhav’s coach Manish Ojha said that all this was possible due to his hard work and family support. During the IPL preparation, Rajasthan Royals practiced him with a speed of 150 km per hour so that he could be able to face fast bowlers.
A source associated with Rajasthan Royals said, “We made him practice high speed bowling (150 km/h from side -cums) so that he was ready to face fast bowlers in the IPL.”
