Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) In 2025 Star Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant’s poor batting form is constantly under question. Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore as the most expensive player of this season league. But, despite such a huge price, he has not been able to live up to expectations. Pant has scored only 110 runs in 10 matches so far and his strike rate has been 98.21.
On Sunday, April 27, Pant’s performance was poor. Chasing a target of 216 runs against Mumbai Indians (Mi), he was dismissed for just four runs. In this match, his team had to face a crushing defeat.
Pant definitely hit a four on the first ball of Will Jax, but in an attempt to play a reverse sweep on the second ball, Karn Sharma was caught and lost his wicket.
Shaun Pollock expressed displeasure over Pant
Legendary South African player Sean Pollock expressed displeasure over Pant playing in this manner. Speaking on Cricbuzz, Pollock said, “Pant had hit a four on the first ball. After that he had 10 balls, where he could only understand the pitch changing the strike and then play big shots. But, nowadays the players say that it is his natural game and he plays the reverse sweep.”
Pant’s poor form is also affecting the status of his team. Currently, after 10 matches, his team is ranked sixth in the LSG points.
Pollock, meanwhile, also gave an example of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all -rounder Krunal Pandya. Krunal showed patience while chasing the difficult target against Delhi Capitals (DC). Initially he was struggling a little, but later scored 73 runs off 47 balls, holding the rhythm.
Pollock said, “Krunal does not have the ability like Pant, the experience is also less. But, he played wisely, set himself up and then won the match. At the same time, Pant’s shot selection is difficult to convince. Perhaps he felt that he had a chance to play the shot at that time.”
