Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the young batsman of Rajasthan Royals (RR) Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now on the tongue of every cricket fan. He created history by scoring a century in T20 cricket at the age of just 14 years. He hit a century in 35 balls in front of the strong bowling attack of Gujarat Titans (GT). This was his only third IPL match.
Even before the match, he told his coach Manish Ojha that today he is going to do something special. The coach had given him some suggestions to make some changes in the batting. Vaibhav, assuming those advice, performed brilliantly on the field and beat the Gujarat bowlers fiercely.
What did Vaibhav say to the coach?
On the morning of 28 April, Vaibhav called his coach. The coach asked him to focus on footwork and technology. According to the Times of India report, Vaibhav told the coach, “Sir, today I will kill.” To this the coach replied, “Kill, but don’t give wickets. Playing comfortably and keeps talking to Yashswi.”
Vaibhav, a resident of Samastipur, Bihar, made these things come true on the field. He set a new record by scoring a century in just 35 balls. In this innings, he hit 11 sixes and 7 fours. He played fantastic shots on experienced bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Siraj and Rashid Khan.
Coach Manish Ojha said, “He told me that I will kill today, but I did not know that he would play like this. I thought something good would happen today, but not so big. He was really a Goddess Goddess. He is just 14 years old, but he has a tremendous talent.”
‘Vaibhav on Sachin’s path’
The coach also told that Vaibhav always says that Rajasthan Royals have given him a big platform and they want to work hard to give a good performance to the team. His dream is to play for India one day. The coach said that Sachin Tendulkar made his debut at the age of 16 and Vaibhav is also on the same path. He is getting guidance of veteran like Rahul Dravid, so there is nothing to worry about.
