GMR Group, which owns the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise, has purchased Hampshire Cricket Club, which participates in county cricket in England. After the purchase of this new team by GMR Group, it has a total of 20 teams including Delhi Capitals in different leagues across the world.
So in Hampshire, GMR Group acquired the stake from a company named Gala Global Products Limited (GGPL), Hampshire Sport & Leisure Holdings Ltd., which holds the ownership of Hampshire. Has purchased 53 percent stake in. Also, if ESPN Cricinfo is to be believed, GMR Group can buy 100 percent stake in the cricket club in the coming years.
It is noteworthy that some time ago Hampshire Sport & Leisure Holdings Ltd. Chairman Rob Bransgrove had decided to sell 60 percent stake in Hampshire Cricket Club. So now this stake has been bought by GMR Group. After purchasing this stake in the team, David Mann, CEO of the cricket club, will remain in this position till September 2026.
