Delhi: A big news is coming about Indian captain Rohit Sharma between the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Taking a big decision related to the future of Indian cricket, the selectors have removed Rohit Sharma from the captaincy of the Test team. Now India will get a new captain for the tour of England starting next month. At present, it is not clear whether Rohit will go to England as an opener or not, but the Board of Cricket Cantrol Indians (BCCI) has supported this decision of the selectors.
This decision has not been taken with the aim of removing age or senior players, but this step has been taken in view of Rohit’s Test form. According to the news, 38 -year -old Rohit Sharma will remain a part of the ODI team and no change has been made in his plan.
It is known that in March there was a report that the board wants Rohit to take charge of the team in England as he had captained the last ICC Champions Trophy. Rohit himself also said in Michael Clarke’s podcast ‘Beyond 23’ that he is waiting to lead the bowling attack in England with Bumrah, Shami and Siraj.

But, last month, the selectors held several rounds of meetings on Rohit’s future. The issue was also discussed in a meeting held in Mumbai on Tuesday and after that he shared his plan with BCCI.
A board source said, “The thinking of the selectors is clear. He wants a new captain for the tour of England and Rohit does not sit as a captain, especially looking at his red ball form. They want to prepare a young leader for the next Test cycle and the selection committee has informed BCCI that Rohit will not lead the team.”
It is believed that selectors no longer want to repeat the mistake, which was seen in Australia tour. Rohit Sharma’s performance in that series was very weak. His average in five innings was just 6.20 and finally he had also dropped himself out of the last Test. Earlier, last year, his form was also poor in the domestic Test series against New Zealand. Rohit’s average in three matches of that series was just 15.16.
