Delhi: Former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly has reacted to the Indian Cricket Control Board of Control (BCCI) to adjourn the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for a week. On Friday, the BCCI announced that the IPL is being stopped for a week with immediate effect in view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan.

Reacting to this, Ganguly told ANI, “There are war -like circumstances in the country, and the BCCI had to take this decision, as it includes many Indian and foreign players. Hopefully the tournament will start soon, as an important phase is coming.”

Ganguly further said, “The BCCI had to take this decision, especially when it was about IPL venue like Dharamshala, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Jaipur. It was an important step while looking at the situation that has been made last night. The situation will improve with time and matches will start again. The BCCI will start the tournament soon and the situation will end soon and this situation will end soon, because Pakistan will not end much time, because Pakistan will not get longer.”

The ongoing match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was stopped during the first innings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday. The organizers immediately evacuated the stadium from the audience and both teams were safely sent to their hotel.

In view of the current situation in the country, this decision has been taken as a precaution and it is expected that IPL 2025 will return to full speed as soon as the situation is normal.
