In fact, at the time when the final match is to be held, there is a possibility of rain in Kolkata. Because of this, the final match is not expected to be played there.
According to the earlier schedule, qualifier-1 and eliminator Hyderabad were to be qualified and finals in Kolkata. But in view of the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, the BCCI has selected only 7 venue for the remaining tournament including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bangalore, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.
A BCCI source quoted the Times of India as saying that Delhi is also in the race to host four playoff matches of IPL-2025, as well as Ahmedabad (which is a possible site of the final) and Mumbai.
The source said, “The days fixed for the final, around June 3 are forecast of heavy rains in Kolkata, due to which it has been shifted from Kolkata. The weather forecast for Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi is currently clear.”
