Delhi: The Indian cricket team’s 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle will begin with the England Test tour starting from June. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the team for the India A vs England Lions Series to be held on this tour. Many big decisions have been seen in the selection of the team. On the one hand, Karun Nair, who performed brilliantly in domestic cricket, and Ishaan Kishan, who is out of the team since time, has returned. At the same time, star batsman Shreyas Iyer has not been included in the India A team.
Abhimanyu Ishwaran gets captaincy
This team will be captained by Abhimanyu Ishwar. At the same time, Dhruv Jurael has been made the vice-captain. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shardul Thakur are also part of the squad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who could not play in IPL 2025 due to injury, has also been given a place in the team. Also, Sarfraz Khan has also got a chance.
According to BCCI’s press release, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan will join the team after the first match on May 30. India A team will play two first class matches against England Lions. These matches will be held on 30 May and 6 June in Catenterbury and Northhampton. The last match of the tour will be played against the Senior India team.
After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the Test, the Indian team management and selection committee will now look at the performance of players like Karun Nair and Ishwar.
The team consists of many well-known names, such as Dhruv Jurael, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Ishaan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana and Sarfraz Khan, who were out due to a rib injury during the Australia tour.
Some unkapped players have also got a chance like Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotion, Anshul Kamboj, Tushar Deshpande and Harsh Dubey. Harsh Dubey took the most wickets in the Ranji Trophy this year and also became the Player of the Tournament.
Khalil Ahmed and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who have played white ball cricket for India, have also been included on this tour.
