Punjab’s triumph in Rajasthan by 10 runs escalates playoff race: RR vs Pbks

Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 10 runs, performing brilliantly in the 59th match. After the restrained batting of Nehal Vadhera and Shashank Singh, Punjab bowlers also showed amazing and gave the team a significant victory. With this victory, Punjab Kings have strengthened their expectations of making a place in the playoffs. The team has won 8 out of the 12 matches played so far, while one match was rained. With 17 points, Punjab has currently reached second place in the points table.

Pbks batting brilliantly

Batting first, Punjab Kings performed strongly and scored 219 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. However, the start was very bad for Punjab, where the team lost their top-3 batsmen within just four overs. Priyesh Arya was dismissed for just 9 runs. Prabhasimran Singh played a fast innings of 21 runs off 10 balls, but he could not stand long. Mitchell Owen could not even open the account and Punjab scored 3 wickets for 34 runs.

After this, Nehal Wadhera and captain Shreyas Iyer handled the innings. Together, both of them took the team out with difficulty and also maintained the run speed. Wadhera batting brilliantly scored 70 runs from 37 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes. Shreyas scored 30 runs in 25 balls but Ryan Parag broke his partnership.

Meanwhile, Shashank Singh took the front and played a great innings. He scored an unbeaten 59 in 30 balls. His innings included 5 fours and 3 magnificent sixes. In the end, Azmatullah Omarjai hit 21 runs off just 9 balls and took the score to 219.

RR’s poor bowling

While Punjab’s batting was in power, there was no such edge in Rajasthan’s bowling. Nor did the team leave any special impact in the fielding. Many occasions slipped by hand and strategy was also seen in the strategy.

For Rajasthan, Tushar Deshpande bowled the most effective and took two wickets. At the same time, Quena Mafaka, Ryan Parag and Akash Madwal got one wicket each, but the rest of the bowlers took fierce runs.
