Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rajasthan Royals (RR) batting collapsed under pressure, chasing a target of 220 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKs). This was the fifth time this season, when the Royals failed to chase the target. The team’s head coach Rahul Dravid blamed this disappointing performance not only on batting, but also on bowling.
52-year-old Rahul Dravid said, “This has been one of the seasons where we always felt that we have given more 15-20 runs. If we look at the entire season, our bowling is not as expected-neither in taking wickets nor to stop the run. We are chasing around 200 in almost every match, yet we have reached near.”
He further said, “Shimron Hetmyer probably did not perform in this season that we expected. It was a little difficult for us. But this could happen. In the last three seasons, he has done a great job for us in that role. This is the nature of this game. We did not think that there was any big change in the batting order.”
At the same time, Punjab Kings spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi praised Harpreet Brar, who took three wickets and rein in the runage of the opposition team.
Joshi said, “Brar is continuously performing well throughout the season. Last year we saw how he bowled, whenever he got a chance, he has proved himself and has taken wickets for our team.”
Joshi denied any serious injury to Shreyas Iyer being a substitute in the second innings. He said, “When he was batting, he had only a slight problem, it was just that.”
