Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who qualified for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoffs, has included Zimbabwe’s fast bowler Blacing Muzrabani in the team for the last league match and playoffs. Lungi Angidi will leave the team on 26 May as they have to join South Africa’s World Test Championship (WTC) final team.
Muzrabani instead of Angidi joins RCB
Engidi played only one match for RCB this season, in which he took 3 wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). But, now many more players from South Africa such as Kagiso Rabada, Marco Janson, Ryan Ricelton, Triston Stabs and Corbin Bosch will not be available for playoffs.
This will be the first IPL season of 28 -year -old Muzrabani. He will take part in the historic Test match against England by 25 May and will be available for the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27.
The South Africa Cricket Board wants all their players to return by May 27 so that they can prepare for the WTC final. For this reason, Lungi will not be able to play the match with Lungi Lucknow.
According to an IPL statement, “Muzrabani has been signed by RCB for Rs 75 lakh.” He is currently in great form. Recently, he took 10 wickets in two Tests against Bangladesh, including 6 wickets in Sylhet.
Posting on X, RCB wrote, “6 feet 8 inches long, 28-year-old Zimbabwe’s fast bowler- Blessing Muzrabani has been declared by RCB as a temporary replacement of Lungi Enggidi which will return to South Africa on 26th! Lungi will be available for our next domestic match.”

Muzrabani’s cricket career
Muzrabani has taken 127 wickets in 118 matches so far in T20 cricket and her economy rate is only 7.24. He has played 70 T20 International matches so far and has taken 78 wickets. Apart from this, he has also played 12 Tests and 55 ODIs for Zimbabwe. He can prove to be a good option for RCB and will strengthen fast bowling with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal.
RCB is currently second in the points table. The match against Kolkata Knight Riders was canceled due to rain. Punjab Kings are also on par with 17 points, so RCB will not have to have any shortage in its performance to make it to the top 2. After the victory over Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans are currently at number one.
