Delhi: Sunil Gavaskar is often known for his sharp and impeccable comment. He is one of the selected former veterans who do not hesitate to say ‘truth as truth’. He has been a part of a famous meme, in which the color of his pants matches the dress of sports female anchor Mayanti Langer. Gavaskar gave another fun reaction during a match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, recalling that mim again.
The former Indian captain was part of a panel discussion, in which Mayanti and former India wicketkeeper batsman Robin Uthappa were also present. Meanwhile, Gavaskar gave a fun reaction, which is the following:
Gavaskar said, “I just want to ask Robin, why is he wearing Mayanti’s pants?”
Uthappa responded to this and said, “I wanted to divert attention from you.”
Sunil jokingly said, “I should have worn pants.”
On this, Mayanti said, “Today our stylist had a conversation among themselves, not yours and mine. Take the screenshot of it, now make this new meme, but the great observation Sunny ji!”
Veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar believes that Shreyas Iyer did not get as much credit for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to get the IPL title as it should have been. Under the captaincy of Shreyas, KKR won the IPL title for the third time, but still he was released before the Mega auction of IPL 2025, where he was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS).
More credit for this success of KKR was given to the team’s mentor Gautam Gambhir, but Gavaskar believes that the captain should get the real credit, not to a person sitting in the dugout. Apart from captaincy, Shreyas scored 351 runs in 14 innings at an average of 39 and also scored two half -centuries.
Gavaskar said on Star Sports, “He did not get the credit for the IPL victory of the previous season. All the credit was given to someone else. The real role is that of the captain, who is on the field, not someone, who is sitting in the dugout.”
