Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran all -rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently reacted to the comment of a fan in a YouTube Live session. Fan appealed to Ashwin to leave the team and wrote, “Dear Ashwin, I am saying with great love, leave my beloved CSK family.” On this, Ashwin understood the feelings of the angry fan and responded peacefully.
Performance did not meet expectations
Ashwin himself admitted that his performance in this season was not as expected. He took just 7 wickets in 9 matches and especially proved to be very expensive in the powerplay overs. He said, “I have worked hard, but there are some parts where I have to improve. I have scored a lot of runs in the powerplay. I will definitely do it next time.”
“If you get the ball, I will bowl, bat will get batting”
Ashwin said that he is trying his best and committed to give his best. He said, “I feel what you are feeling. If I get the ball then I will bowl, if I get a bat, I will bat. I will not let this season go waste this season.”
CSK’s poor performance in this season
This season was not memorable for Chennai Super Kings. The team won only 4 matches out of their 14 and stood at the bottom of the points table with 8 points. This was the first time the CSK ended at the bottom of the table. However, the team ended the season well by defeating Gujarat Titans by 83 runs in the last match.
Ashwin’s return
Ravichandran Ashwin was purchased in the mega auction this season for Rs 9.75 crore. This was his return to CSK, from where he started the IPL career. Although the performance was disappointing, he still expressed confidence that next time he would improve his game and live up to the hopes of the fans.
