Delhi: The upcoming women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, which was scheduled to begin in Sri Lanka from 6 June 2025, has been adjourned indefinitely. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced this on Monday.
The ACC took this decision after the request of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) President Shammi Silva. Silva, in his letter, cited the increasing threat of diseases like current bad weather and chikungunya in Sri Lanka, urging to postpon the tournament.
ACC President Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement, “ACC is committed to giving young women cricketers an opportunity to show their skills at the international level. We understand the strategic importance of this tournament and are working to organize it as soon as possible.”
He also assured that the new dates of the tournament will be announced soon. Women Emerging Asia Cup is an important tournament to give a platform to the emerging women’s cricket talents of Asia, and the ACC has considered the safety of players and teams to be paramount for its adjournment.
Now the thing to see will be that when the ACC announces the dates of the tournament in future. However, his decision is being considered as capable.
