Delhi: Former Zimbabwe’s cricketer Chris Mpofu has reacted to India’s new Test captain Shubman Gill and expressed confidence that despite the challenges, Gill and his team will do well according to the circumstances.
Chris Mpofu told ANI, “You have a new captain, Shubman Gill. You know it is going to be difficult, but I still believe that these players are so good that they can mold themselves according to those circumstances and do well for India. Thanks. Thank you. Cricket in India has become a religion now.”
Shubman Gill has been appointed as the new Test captain of India, while wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been made vice -captain in this format. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team for the five -match Test series against England last month.
The series will be played between June to August 2025, compared to which will be played in Handingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lords (London), Old Trafford (Manchester), and The Oval (London). This month, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have announced to retire from Test cricket. Team India is ready to fight against the British in the red ball cricket against the British without these two veterans.
