Delhi: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team has come to bat first after losing the toss against Punjab Kings (PBKs) in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. However, the team did not have a good start and Phil Sold was out quickly, but Mayank Agarwal played an important role in taking the team up to 55 runs in the powerplay.
Mayank scored 24 runs in 18 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six. During this innings, he also completed his 5000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this feat in the 209th innings and became the 19th Indian batsman to do so. Along with this, he also left behind Ruturaj Gaikwad, whose names are 4996 runs in T20 so far. Ruturaj was out due to injury this season.
Interestingly, Mayank was not sold in the IPL mega auction and he was later included in the team in place of Devdutt Padikkal, at the same time, when the tournament was postponed for a week due to the India-Pakistan struggle. Mayank’s first match of this season was against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and he scored 95 runs in four innings.
In the final match, Mayank was moving towards a big innings, but after the powerplay, Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him. This catch was caught by Arshdeep Singh in a brilliant way. Now RCB is trying to score a strong score, as PBKS has successfully tried the score of 200+ against Mumbai Indians (Mi) earlier.
