BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia on Bengaluru stampede: We must act, not just watch.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had an honor ceremony at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, after winning IPL 2025 trophy after 18 years. During this event, a large number of fans came to see the team.

But no one thought that this Victory Celebration would turn into mourning by evening. On June 4, 11 people died in a stampede during celebrations outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, while more than 50 people were injured.

So at the same time, a major response has come to light in this case in the Cricket Control Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Devjit Saikia. Saikia has said that the board will have to do something, we cannot live as mute spectators.

Let me tell you that recently in the Bangalore stampede case, BCCI Secretary quoted the cricbing as saying- BCCI will have to do something at some level or the other. We cannot live as mute spectators. This was a private case of RCB, but BCCI is responsible for cricket in India and we will try to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in future.

After the Bengaluru stampede, the BCCI may issue advisory to implement a preventive system to prevent such incidents during the future IPL win celebrations. But specific details, including the phase of implementation of this advisory and the nature of preventive measures, have not yet been detailed, but the BCCI official said the matter would be considered.

On the other hand, investigation is being done by the Bengaluru Police after this stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. In this sequence, the Chief Minister of the Government of Karnataka, taking major action, has suspended the ACP of Central Bangalore, including Inspector of Kabban Park and station in -charge with immediate effect.
