Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 ended on Tuesday with a banging grand finale, in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their first title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKs) by six runs. Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, the team performed brilliantly throughout the season and ended the wait of 18 years, keeping the same rhythm in the final as well.
This was a moment like RCB batsman Virat Kohli like a ‘dream come true’, which has been associated with this franchise since 2008. Recently, former Australia captain Michael Clarke supported Kohli to play in the next season.
Not only Kohli, but Clarke also supported Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni and Mumbai Indians (Mi) batsman Rohit Sharma to play in the IPL next year.
Clarke said on Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, “I think MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play in the next year’s IPL. MS Dhoni is very big name, whenever Chennai’s team plays, whether it is home ground or a match, there are fans of Chennai, there are more fans of Chennai. Sponsors are also due to the dhoni.”
He further said, “He is the king of this franchise. The franchise wants that he keeps playing and I do not think that when he retires, it will be a big loss for the franchise.”
It is worth noting that both Rohit and Kohli have recently announced retirement from Test cricket and have also said goodbye to their T20 international career. Now both players are active in only ODI format in international cricket.
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni had to face severe criticism from cricket experts for poor performance in IPL 2025. The five -time champion team was at the bottom of the points table this time, after which many cricket fans said that 43 -year -old Dhoni should now retire from cricket.
