29-year-old Sanju Samson said, “On the morning of the final, I was told that I had a chance to play and I was asked to be ready, but just before the toss it was decided that there would be no changes in the team.”
Sanju expressed his disappointment at this decision, but said that he accepted it. During the warm-up, Rohit Sharma came to him and explained the reason behind this decision. Sanju said, “Rohit Bhai explained to me why this decision was taken. I told him that I understand, you play the match. “We will talk again after the match.”
After this Rohit jokingly said, “I feel like you are saying something about me in your mind. You are not happy.” On this Sanju said that there was nothing like that.
Sanju also told in the interview that he regrets that he could not play the final under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, but he liked that Rohit talked to him before the match. This made him realize that the captain had a different thinking.
It is noteworthy that in the final, the Indian team defeated South Africa by 7 runs. However, Rishabh Pant was out without opening the account in that match.
