He said in an interview, “I was scoring a half -century, but the centuries were not coming. When Ishaan hit a double century, I came from inside that my time may have been over now. Then my friends come to meet so that I would not be sad. But, I was cool and enjoying.”
In that match against Bangladesh, Dhawan was dismissed for just 3 runs. India won that match by 227 runs and that became their last match for India.
When asked whether a fellow player contacted after being out of the team, Dhawan said, “No, it would not have happened. Maybe Rahul Bhai (Dravid) had spoken. He had messaged. Everyone has their own life and busyness. We are accustomed to such things since childhood. This is not the first time.”
Significantly, Shikhar Dhawan scored 6793 runs in 167 matches in his ODI career at an average of 44.11. This includes 17 centuries and 39 half -centuries.
