Delhi: Pakistan can be excluded from the World Club T20 Championship, which starts next year. PCB absence caused cause
A source said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also invited to the ‘Cricket Connect’ meeting held in London last month. The CEO of PSL was invited to participate in it, but no representative from PCB reached.
The meeting was attended by the ICC support and CEO of the world’s major franchise leagues on the initiative of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), including names like Emirates League, Big Bash League, The Hundred, SA 20, MLC and CPL.
IPL teams will not be included in the first edition
According to sources, no team of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will participate in the first edition of the tournament. However, the event has full support of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI). Initially the tournament will be held with five teams.
PCB chief stays away from ICC meeting
The source also said that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was not only absent from this meeting, but he is also not attending regular meetings of ICC. His absence is also considered a big reason behind this decision.
If PCB kept distance from such meetings in future also, then Pakistan’s teams can be deprived of their participation on the global T20 platform, which can also cause damage to the credibility of PSL.
