Delhi: In the World Championship of Legends (WCL), a big match between India and Pakistan has been engulfed in controversies. The match was to be played on Sunday in Birmingham, but the contest was canceled due to not entering the India Champions ground.
India refused to play
According to reports, many players of India team like Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan were withdrawn from this match. This match was to start India’s title defense, but the team refused to play.
After this decision, the organizers canceled the match and issued a statement saying that they had not intended to make any player uncomfortable.
This decision of the India team was taken after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April and after the incidents of operation vermilion. Due to the tense situation in the country, the players refused to enter the field against Pakistan.
Pakistan angry over sharing points
According to ANI report, WCL told the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that he was responsible for cancellation of the match, not the India team. However, Pakistan Champions are angry that they will have to distribute points with India. He says that since the India team refuses to play the match themselves, they should get a full two points.
Pakistan team owner Kamil Khan also reiterated the same thing. He said, “If we reach the finals, its decisions will be taken at that time. But, for this match, we do two points because India team did not play.”
Pakistan defeated England by five runs in their first match of season 2. Now his next match will be from South Africa on Friday. At the same time, India’s team will play their first match against South Africa on Tuesday.
