Delhi: Karun Nair, 33, is going to return to the Karnataka team once again. In the domestic season of 2025-26, he will be seen playing for Karnataka. Right now he is part of India’s Test team in England and is playing in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The Vidarbha Cricket Association has given him a no-objection certificate (NOC), so that he will now be able to return to his domestic state.
Karun had performed brilliantly for Vidarbha for the last few years. On this basis, he returned to the Test team after eight years. In the previous season, he scored 963 runs in 16 innings. His average was 53.93 and he scored four centuries. The Ranji Trophy was to win his century match against Kerala in the final.
Missed form in England Tour
The beginning in England was excellent when he scored a double century. But, since then he has not been seen in form. He scored 40 and 15 runs in an informal Test against England Lions. He returned to the headingley in the Test team, but was fed at number 6. First he scored zero and then 20 runs. After this, he landed at number 3 in Edbston, where he was dismissed for 31 and 26 runs. In Lord’s Test, he was seen in good rhythm scoring 40 runs, but was dismissed before the half -century. When India was under pressure in the run chase, the team’s small collapse started as soon as his wicket (14 runs) fell.
Now the question is arising whether the team will give Karun a chance. He definitely played some good innings, but till now he could not make any big score.
Karun’s great record for Vidarbha
Karun Nair played a total of 19 first class matches for Vidarbha in which he scored 1,553 runs. These include six centuries and five half -centuries.
His record in ODI format was even more special. He scored 1,009 runs in 17 matches and averaged 144.14. During this, he scored six centuries and two half -centuries. The special thing is that he scored 542 runs in List A without being out, which is a record.
He also performed well in T20 format. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 473 runs in 13 innings. His strike rate was 164.80 and average was 39.41. He also scored five half -centuries in this format.
Now that they are returning to Karnataka again, it will be interesting to see whether they are able to return to their old color there or not.
