In the times to come, fans will get to see many more spectacular cover drives and great flicks at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as Virat Kohli has been retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 21 crore. On Thursday, October 31, the popular franchise gave its fans a special gift on the occasion of Diwali as they have retained Virat Kohli for the next three years.

Virat Kohli will play his 18th season for RCB in 2025. He is already the only player in the world to have played cricket for one franchise for so long. In 2027, he will become the first player to play 20 seasons of cricket for RCB. Virat Kohli is very excited about this.

Virat Kohli gave a big statement after being retained by RCB

In a video shared by RCB after the retention, Virat Kohli said, “Hello RCB fans, I have been retained again by the franchise for three years. I’m very excited as always, everyone knows how much RCB means to me, it’s been a very special relationship over the years that keeps going from strength to strength. What I have experienced playing for RCB has been really special and I hope that the fans and everyone associated with the franchise will also feel the same at the end of this cycle, it is going to be 20 years that I have been playing for RCB. I will play for and this in itself is a very special feeling for me.”

Virat further said, “I never thought that I would play for the same team for so many years, but over the years the relationship has become really special and as I said earlier I don’t see myself anywhere else other than RCB So I’m very happy to have been retained and yes, I’m very excited by the opportunity to build a strong new team in this auction, something that you know we as a franchise are really looking forward to as a team. Looking forward to.”

Regarding winning the trophy, Kohli said, “Looking ahead in this cycle over the next 3 years, obviously the target is to win at least the IPL title. We are going to try our best as always and try to make everyone proud of the way we play our cricket. So thanks a lot to the fans for your unwavering support. Really grateful for many years and I will meet you guys very soon at Chinnaswamy Stadium, take care.”
