Mega auction will be organized on 24th and 25th November.
All 10 franchises have started preparations for IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently announced the date and venue of the auction. This is a mega auction so it will last for two days. Mega auction is to be organized for two days on 24 and 25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In this, 1,574 players (1,165 Indians and 409 foreigners) have registered themselves.
Many players have kept their base price at Rs 2 crore for this mega auction. According to ESPNcricinfo, the names of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are at the top in the list of base price of Rs 2 crore, because these players had captained in the last season, but this time they have been given the contract by Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata respectively. Knight Riders did not retain.
Apart from this, R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal will also enter the mega auction at the base price of Rs 2 crore each. These players have not been retained by Rajasthan Royals. Apart from this, there are many foreign players who have kept their base price at Rs 2 crore. The names of big foreign players like Glenn Maxwell, Jos Buttler, Mitchell Starc are there in it.
Indian players with maximum base price of Rs 2 crore are Mohammed Shami, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep. Singh, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav.
Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz, who remained unsold in the last auction, have registered themselves at the base price of Rs 75 lakh each. Now it will be interesting to see which of these players get bid in the upcoming mega auction and which player remains unsold.
The biggest surprise name so far in the auction list is that of James Anderson, who has decided to play his franchise cricket at the age of 42. The fast bowler has not played any T20 match since 2014 and he wants to break that 11-year streak in IPL 2025. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi have kept the base price of Rs 75 lakh.
