Delhi: Before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suffered another major setback. After India, now the England Cricket Board (ECB) has also considered banning its players from playing in Pakistan. According to reports, English players will not be able to participate in Pakistan Super League (PSL). This league is the T20 tournament of Pakistan.
South Africa gets new head coach
According to the report of The Telegraph, the ECB will allow its players to play only in the Indian Premier League (IPL), while will not give permission (NOC) to participate in other leagues like PSL. The reason for this decision is to maintain the players’ priorities towards the national cricket team.
This decision of ECB may cause big loss to PSL. Already there is a shortage of active international players in PSL, and mostly retired players play in it. The exclusion of English players can have a deep impact on the popularity of PSL.
Big decision of ECB
The English Board believes that the increasing trend of T20 leagues is affecting the quality of international cricket. Players do not give priority to national cricket due to greed for money. Players get distracted by participating in leagues other than IPL. For this reason, ECB is planning to stop its players from playing in PSL and other leagues.
This decision may prove to be another challenge for the PCB, as this is the second major problem after India already refused to play in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.
