In the match played against Meghalaya on Thursday, Abhishek, playing for Punjab, played an unbeaten inning of 106* runs in 29 balls. During this, he hit 8 fours and 11 sixes. By completing his century in just 28 balls, Abhishek left behind legends like Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma.

24-year-old Abhishek Sharma has now become the joint fastest Indian player to score a T20 century. He equaled Gujarat’s Urvil Patel, who recently scored a century in 28 balls against Uttarakhand. In the list of Indians who have scored the fastest century in T20, Rishabh Pant (32 balls) is at third place and Rohit Sharma (35 balls) is at fourth place.

Abhishek defeated Suryakumar Yadav and made the record of hitting most T20 sixes in a calendar year. So far in 2024, he has hit 87 sixes in 38 innings, while Surya had made a record of 85 sixes in 2022. Rishabh Pant (66 sixes in 2018) is at third place in this list.
