Delhi: The first match of the five-match Test series between India and Australia was played in Perth, in which the Indian team registered a spectacular victory of 295 runs. 21 year old young all-rounder Nitish Reddy had an important contribution in this historic victory.

India’s first innings was limited to only 150 runs, but in this, Nitish Reddy played a fighting inning of 41 runs and took the team to a respectable score. At the Optus Stadium in Perth, he bravely faced legendary bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. In the second innings also he scored 38 runs and took one wicket.

Now Nitish Reddy revealed that he was not serious about cricket in his initial days. In a video shared by BCCI, he said, “When I was young, I used to watch cricket as entertainment, but everything changed for me when I saw my father crying due to financial problems. That day I decided that I had to take cricket seriously.”

Nitish further said, “Father even left his job for me. Seeing his sacrifice, I decided to work hard and achieve success. Now I am proud that I have lived up to their expectations. I gave him my first jersey, and seeing the joy on his face made my dream come true.”

During his debut in Perth Test, Virat Kohli handed over his first Test cap to Nitish. Nitish called it a special moment of his life. He said, “I was a big fan of Virat bhaiya since childhood. “I used to pray for him to score a century in every match.”

Nitish also recalled that he had taken a selfie with Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma at the 2018 BCCI Awards. He laughed and said, “It was a safety photo, because Virat bhaiya was very famous at that time.”
