Delhi: The controversy regarding ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is showing no end. This tournament is scheduled to be held between February 19 and March 9, but its schedule has not been released yet. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to send its team to Pakistan citing security reasons. Since then the discussion on ‘hybrid model’ has intensified. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about this proposal, but the PCB has not yet fully accepted it and is coming out with new conditions.

New demand for PCB

It is believed that the Champions Trophy schedule may be released on Wednesday. However, amidst all this, PCB has now put a new condition. PCB has sought written assurance from ICC on hybrid model for future tournaments. At present, the PCB has agreed to accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, under which India will play all its matches in Dubai, while the remaining matches will be held in Pakistan. If the Indian team reaches the semi-finals or finals, then those matches will also be held in Dubai.

Decision will be taken soon

According to sources, any decision on the Champions Trophy can be taken by Wednesday. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on this subject. Naqvi made it clear that PCB will consult its government before agreeing to any agreement.

Eight teams will participate

Eight teams will participate in the Champions Trophy 2025, which will be divided into two groups. The top two teams of both the groups will play the semi-finals and the winning team will face off in the final. On the other hand, earlier, India had refused to play in Pakistan in the 50-over Asia Cup, after which the tournament was organized on hybrid model. India played its matches in Sri Lanka and became the winner of the tournament.

It is worth noting that Pakistan has become very shameless at present, which is trying every trick to host the ICC Champions Trophy. Now he has sought written assurance from the ICC.
