Neelam’s struggle

Neelam’s journey has been full of struggle. Neelam’s father Maresh Bhardwaj, who grew up in the slums near Ramnagar railway station in Uttarakhand, was a daily wage labourer. Four years ago, his father died in an accident while carrying wood, leaving the family in financial crisis. During this difficult time, her coach Mohammad Ansari supported Neelam. He told that Neelam started cricket training at the age of 8 and made it to the Under-19 team at the age of 11-12.

202 runs on 137 balls

Neelam scored unbeaten 202* runs in 137 balls in her record-breaking innings, which included 27 fours and 2 sixes. He was chosen “Player of the Match” for his excellent performance.

Neelam is the third Indian female cricketer to score a double century in ODI cricket. Before her, Smriti Mandhana had scored 224 runs against Gujarat in 2013-14 and Shweta Sehrawat had scored 242 runs against Nagaland in 2023.
