Delhi: India captain Rohit Sharma’s poor form in Test cricket continued as he was dismissed by Pat Cummins early on the fourth day of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane. Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring only 10 runs in 27 balls. His innings further added to the weak batting performance of the Indian team. But, after his dismissal, one of his small steps created a sensation on social media and fueled speculations about his retirement from Test cricket.

Rohit was out again in the old style
Rohit, who came to bat at number 6 for the third consecutive time in this series, looked comfortable at the crease initially. He showed patience in his innings and waited for the right ball. But, the 37-year-old batsman was once again betrayed by his old weakness, his habit of playing shots without moving his feet. Pat Cummins bowled a fuller ball near the off stump, on which Rohit tried to play with hard hands, and wicketkeeper Alex Carey took an easy catch.
gloves left in the dugout
After getting out, when Rohit was returning to the pavilion disappointed, he kept his gloves behind the advertisement board near the dugout.
As soon as pictures of this incident went viral on social media, fans started speculating that Rohit might have hinted at saying goodbye to his Test career. Earlier, he had announced his retirement from T20 cricket after leading India to win the T20 World Cup in June this year. There are also reports that Rohit may stay away from ODI cricket after the Champions Trophy to be held in Dubai and Pakistan in February.

Sign of retirement? Rohit Sharma left his gloves in front of dugout.
It will be a great decision if he decides to retire since batting in red ball has really become tough for him. pic.twitter.com/eYmImydgbs— Anuj Yadav 🇮🇳 (@Hello_anuj) December 17, 2024
