Ravichandran Ashwin said in the press conference, “Today was my last day as an international cricketer. As an international cricketer, I will no longer be associated with the game, but I will definitely remain associated with this game in some way or the other.”

The decision was taken in Perth itself

Captain Rohit Sharma told in the press conference that he came to know about this retirement as soon as he reached Perth. After this he requested Ashwin to play the pink ball test. After this the veteran spinner played the second match. He got 1 wicket in this match. Ashwin will return to India tomorrow, Thursday.

Ashwin’s international career

Ashwin has played 287 international matches for India, out of which he has taken 537 wickets in 106 Test matches. While bowling in 200 innings, he has taken five wicket hauls 37 times and 10 or more wickets 8 times. His best performance was 7 wickets for 59 runs in an innings and 13 wickets for 140 runs in the match. In ODI cricket, he has taken 156 wickets in 116 matches, but he has never been able to achieve a five-wicket haul in ODI. He does not have the record of taking five wickets even in T20 International cricket. He has taken 72 wickets in 65 matches.

Ashwin has also been a good batsman. In Test cricket, he has scored 3503 runs in 151 innings, which includes 6 centuries and 14 half-centuries. His best score is 124 runs. In ODIs, he batted in 63 innings out of 116 matches and scored 707 runs, which included one half-century. He got 19 innings in T20 International cricket, and scored 184 runs, of which his best score was 31 runs.
