Delhi: India’s leading spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. He played his last international match in Adelaide. Ashwin announced his retirement in the press conference after the Gabba Test, and during this, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was also with him. Before retirement, Ashwin was seen with Virat Kohli in the dressing room, where Kohli also hugged him. After Ashwin’s retirement, his fellow players and former cricketers have praised him.

Ashwin was a part of the Adelaide Day-Night Test and got a chance to play only one match on the Australia tour, in which he took one wicket for 53 runs.

India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir said, “I have seen you from a young bowler to the legendary cricketer you are today. The coming generations will say that they became bowlers because of Ashwin. You will be missed forever.”

Captain Rohit Sharma said in the press conference, “Ashwin was completely confident in his decision, and we should respect his wish.”

Ashwin took 765 wickets in his career.
Ashwin played a total of 287 matches in all three formats and took 765 wickets. In Test cricket, he took 537 wickets in 106 matches, in which he recorded a record of taking five wickets 37 times and ten wickets eight times. In ODI cricket, he took 156 wickets in 116 matches and in T-20, he took 72 wickets in 65 matches. Even in batting, Ashwin scored 3503 runs in Test cricket and scored six centuries. He has eight centuries to his name in first-class cricket, while he has scored 707 runs in ODIs and 184 runs in T-20.
