Delhi: After the third Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy played between India and Australia in Brisbane, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin suddenly said goodbye to his international cricket career. His decision was shocking not only for the fans but also for many stalwarts of the cricket world.
Great Indian cricket bowler Anil Kumble was also included in these. Kumble was hopeful that Ashwin would break the record of Test wickets made by him, but he was disappointed by Ashwin’s decision to retire. However, he respected Ashwin’s decision and also praised him profusely.

Kumble congratulated Ashwin
Kumble said, “You have performed brilliantly for India. You have been a champion bowler and all-rounder, and you will definitely be missed. I wanted you to go beyond my 619 wickets in Test cricket, but you have reasons for your decision. Best wishes for your next chapter.”
Second Indian to take most test wickets
In his 14-year career, Ashwin has taken 537 wickets at an average of 24 in 106 Test matches. He became the second bowler to take the most wickets for India. Apart from this, he also scored six Test centuries and 14 half-centuries. Although Kumble wanted Ashwin to break his record of 619 Test wickets, he said that he respected Ashwin’s decision and wished him all the best for his future.
