Delhi: Australia’s 19-year-old opener Sam Constas may have hit two sixes in Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s over, but the pacer says that he never felt that he was away from taking a wicket. Bumrah described the match against Constas on the first day of the fourth Test as interesting. He says that he could have dismissed Constas six-seven times in the first two overs.
‘Exclude him from the team but…’, former Indian legend gave a big statement on Team India’s poor performance.
Constas scored 62 runs in 65 balls and hit two sixes off Bumrah. This was the first time in three years that a batsman hit a six off Bumrah’s ball in Test cricket.
Speaking to Channel Seven, Bumrah said, “I look at it differently. I am bowling well and the results are in my favor. But, on different occasions I have bowled better. Cricket is a game where sometimes you get wickets and sometimes not.”
Bumrah further said, “I have played T20 cricket for more than 12 years and have a good experience of it. Constas is an interesting batsman. Initially I felt that I could have dismissed him six-seven times in the first two overs, but that’s what happens in cricket. Sometimes we get wickets and sometimes not, when we don’t get wickets, people start criticizing.”
Regarding his performance in Australia, he said, “Here I always like to face new challenges. I played Test here for the first time in 2018 and made my ODI debut in 2016. The flat wickets and Kookaburra balls here are helpful in new bowling, but later the difficulties increase.”
Bumrah said, “The conditions here test your accuracy, fitness and patience. But, after overcoming these challenges, you become a better cricketer.”
