Delhi: Rishabh Pant established himself as a big star during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the year 2021. Now the same success has been achieved by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who created history by scoring a century in the Melbourne Test. Nitish is only 21 years old, but his batting shows the maturity that comes from experience. And he got this experience from former Indian player and former Chief Selector of Team India MSK Prasad, who gave him a chance to shine in cricket.

MSK Prasad recognized the talent

Nitish’s story is quite inspiring, because his father had even left his job to make his son’s career. In this difficult period, Nitish needed the support of luck along with his hard work. Nitish tells that when he used to play Under-12 and Under-14 matches in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, MSK Prasad recognized his talent. Prasad got him admitted to the ACA Cricket Academy, and from here Nitish’s professional cricket career started taking off.

Got to learn a lot from Srinivasa Rao

At ACA Cricket Academy, Nitish got to learn a lot from coaches Madhusudan Reddy and Srinivas Rao. In the Vijay Merchant Trophy in 2017-18, he scored 1237 runs at an average of 176, which increased his recognition. For this brilliant performance, he also received the Best Under-16 Cricketer of the Year award from BCCI. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, his career came to a halt for a while.

Chennai had signed him as a net bowler

That push from MSK Prasad made it easy for Nitish to step into IPL. He participated in the IPL for the first time in 2021 when CSK signed him as a net bowler. Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him in 2023, where he got a chance to play only 2 matches. But in the 2024 IPL season, Nitish performed brilliantly and scored 303 runs in 13 matches, which gave new momentum to his career.
