Former Indian cricketer and politician Navjot Singh Sidhu reacted strongly to this celebration. He called it “shameful” and said it was an insult to 1.5 billion Indians. Sidhu demanded strict punishment on the head so that such incidents do not happen in future.
Sidhu wrote on social media, “Travis Head’s shameful behavior during the Melbourne Test is not good for the gentleman’s game. This sets a bad example for children, women and families. This is an insult not just to one person, but to the entire country. “Strict action should be taken on this so that no one dares to do such acts again.”
Pat Cummins gave clarification
Australian captain Pat Cummins defended Head’s celebration. He said, “He just does it jokingly. His finger gets so hot that he has to dip it in ice. This is his inside joke. There was nothing wrong in it.”
With this victory, Australia took a 2-1 lead in the series. Now the last match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played in Sydney from January 3, which will decide the series.
